Dimitri A. Sotiropoulos
Senior Research Fellow; Professor of Political Science, University of Athens; Public administration; Civil society; Democratization; Southern Europe and Balkans
Dimitri A. Sotiropoulos is Professor of Political Science at the Department of Political Science and Public Administration of the University of Athens. He has studied law, sociology and political science at the Law School of the University of Athens (LLB), the London School of Economics (MSc) and Yale University (MA, M.Phil. and Ph.D., awarded with distinction, 1991).
In 2003 he was Senior Research Fellow at the Hellenic Observatory of the London School of Economics, in 2009-2010 Visiting Fellow in South East European Studies at the Centre for European Studies, St. Antony’s College, Oxford and in autumn 2015 Visiting Professor at the “Sciences Po”, Paris. Ιn 2018-2019 he was visiting professor at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy (Tufts University) and visiting fellow’s Harvard’s Center of European Studies.
He serves on the editorial board of the academic journals South European Society and Politics, Journal of Mediterranean Politics, Southeast European and Black Sea Studies.
Δρ. Ευγενία Βαθάκου
Eugenia Vathakou holds a Degree in Law (Democritus University of Thrace, GR), an MA and a PhD in International Conflict Analysis (University of Kent at Canterbury, UK). Since 2017 she has been teaching at the Hellenic Open University and since 2012 at the Department of Political Science and IR, University of Peloponnese.
Over the last 9 years she has trained more than 500 staff of small-medium size Greek NGOs on needs assessment and project planning (using the logical framework as a key tool for planning) in cooperation with the University of Peloponnese and HIGGS.
Since 2016 she has trained on conflict and violence management more than 300 field workers at different accommodation structures for unaccompanied refugee children across Greece. The training was part of capacity-building interventions implemented by MERIMNA in cooperation with UNICEF.
From 2004 to 2010 she worked in different countries (e.g. Νοrthern Macedonia, Kosovo, Egypt, Uganda, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan), planning and managing development and peacebuilding projects funded by the EU, UNDP, UNICEF, Hellenic Aid.
Her research interests focus on creative conflict transformation and include the relationship between migration and development, participatory planning for local development and civil society capacity building.
She is fluent in English, Turkish and French.
Asteris Huliaras
Professor, Department of Political Science and International Relations, University of the Peloponnese
Asteris Huliaras is Professor of comparative politics and international relations in the Department of Political Science and International Relations at the University of the Peloponnese, Greece where he holds a Jean Monnet Chair on EU Relations with Less Developed Countries. His research interests include North-South relations, foreign policy analysis and civil society.
Alexia Mitsikostas
Alexia Mitsikostas is Project Manager at the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP), working on a number of projects on topics such as Greek-Turkish relations, gender equality, and youth employment. She was previously Project manager for the European Research Council (ERC)-funded research programme ‘GRASSROOTSMOBILISE: Directions in Religious Pluralism in Europe’, among other projects.
Alexia holds a degree in History and French (UCL) and an MA in Human Rights (UCL School of Public Policy).
She speaks Greek, English, French, and basic Spanish.
